Free QR code generator: no sign-up, no expiry

Make a QR code for a link, Wi-Fi, contact card, email, phone, SMS or WhatsApp. It is created in your browser, checked for scannability, and downloads as PNG, SVG or PDF.

Design and size

Blank margin around the code. 4 is the standard.

Used for the PDF page size and the print check.

Downloads are made on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

    How the scan check works

Every change re-runs a few simple tests on the code you are about to download:

    • Contrast between code and background colours (WCAG contrast ratio; 4.5:1 or more is safest).
    • Inverted colours: light codes on dark backgrounds fail on some scanners.
    • Data density: long content makes a finer grid that needs more print size.
    • Size: pixels per module in the download, module size in millimetres at your print width, and the distance rule of thumb.
    • Quiet zone: the blank margin scanners need to find the code.

It is a guide, not a guarantee. Always test the printed code with real phones.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is it really free?

Yes. Static codes made here are free to create and use, including commercially, with no sign-up, no watermark and no expiry. A paid tier for editable codes and scan statistics is planned; it will not change how free static codes work.

    Do my codes expire?

No. A static code stores your link or text directly in the pattern. Nothing on our side can switch it off. See our promise.

    Is my data uploaded?

No. The code is generated by JavaScript in your browser and the files are created on your device. The page makes no network requests with your content, and there are no analytics or tracking scripts. See the privacy notice.

    Which format should I download?

PNG for websites, documents and messaging. SVG or PDF for printing, because they are vector files that stay sharp at any size.

Can I change where the code points after printing?

Not with a static code: the content is fixed once printed. If you link to a page you control, you can change that page's content any time. Editable (dynamic) codes are planned as a paid option.

Which error correction level should I pick?

M (15%) suits most uses. Choose Q or H if the code may get scratched, dirty or partly covered. Higher levels make the code denser, so print it a little larger.
